1.What cookies are

In short: small files a site puts on your device to remember something.

A cookie is a small text file a website stores with your browser — for example to remember that you are logged in. In this policy, "cookies" also covers similar techniques, such as local storage and pixels.

2.The rules we follow

In short: necessary cookies are allowed without consent; for everything else we ask first.

This policy is based on article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act (the Dutch cookie provision) and the GDPR. The core: cookies strictly necessary to make the site work are allowed without consent. For all other cookies — such as privacy-impacting statistics or marketing — we ask your consent first, and that choice is genuinely free: rejecting is as easy as accepting.

If we use no analytics or marketing tool (yet), those rows lapse. Any non-necessary tool that gets added is listed here beforehand with its name, purpose and retention.

4.Giving and withdrawing consent

In short: "Reject" is as prominent as "Accept", and you may always change your mind.

On your first visit you see a cookie banner with two equal buttons: Accept and Reject. Without a choice we only set necessary cookies.
If you reject, chatbuild.com simply keeps working in full.
Withdrawing is as easy as giving: via [[COOKIE_INSTELLINGEN_LOCATIE]] you can change your choice at any time. You can also always clear cookies via your browser settings.

5.Cookies on sites we build for you

In short: your site gets no tracking cookies by default. If you add tools yourself, you are responsible for the consent.

A strict default applies to websites ChatBuild builds for customers:

By default we place no analytics or marketing cookies on your site. Only strictly necessary techniques for the operation and security of the site (for example from our hosting party Cloudflare) may occur.
If you ask us to add a tool that does set cookies — such as statistics or a third-party booking widget — then you as the site owner are the controller. You then arrange a correct cookie banner and cookie policy on your own site; we set up the technical basis for it.
Visitors of such a site can direct questions to the owner of that site (see also article 11 of our privacy policy).

6.Your rights

In short: for personal data from cookies, the usual GDPR rights apply.

Where cookies process personal data, you have the same rights as with any other processing: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. How to use them — and how to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority — is in the privacy policy.

7.Changes

In short: new cookies mean a new version of this page — and, where needed, your consent again.

If we start using different cookies, we update this policy and, where needed, ask your consent again. The date of the latest version is always shown at the top.
